Then you might be the RF device characterization engineer we are looking for. RF Device Characterization Engineer  What you will do The deployment of millimeter-wave 5G and 6G radio systems pushes the requirements on device performance further than ever before. Achieving very high-power efficiency at mmWave frequencies is critical for such applications. Technology must be adapted to reduce the power consumption of high-power amplifiers. Although compound semiconductors technologies promise to meet these goals, their low-cost fabrication on a CMOS compatible platform remains challenging. In this context, innovative GaN and III-V transistors compatible with large-scale Si wafers are currently being developed at imec.  In order to optimize the technology developments, precise transistor characterization and modeling are required over a wide range of frequencies and power levels. The RF nonlinear behavior is particularly important and challenging. In this position, you will be responsible for the electrical characterization of advanced transistors up to sub-THz frequencies. You will use state-of-the-art equipment (vector network analyzers, large-signal network analyzers, load-pull, real-time oscilloscope) and automated processes. You will develop new test benches and design experiments taking into account the specific properties of the devices-under-test (., slow transient arising from thermal and trap states). You will work on calibration techniques and de-embedding methods for accurate on-wafer measurements up to sub-THz frequencies. You will propose techniques to minimize measurements uncertainties. R&D Engineer Metrology for 3D IC integration What you will do You will be part of the metrology and inspection (M&I) group within the Advanced Patterning department. As R&D Engineer Metrology for 3D IC integration, you will:  Work in close collaboration with 3DIC / Advanced Wafer Level Packaging program and integration teams. Identify metrology challenges and imec capability gaps linked to the 3DIC scaling roadmap. This includes Critical Dimension (CD) metrology, overlay metrology but also edge roll-off, die tilt, wafer warpage etc...  Put specific focus on an optical profiler technique to address these challenges. You will assess its capabilities and jointly develop the tool with the supplier.  Be the imec contact person for the tool, providing training and knowledge transfer to imec personnel.
